Ten Months!

Caleb is 10 months old!

Weight: 22lbs, 10 oz. This is the 85th percentile.

Length: 29.25 inches.  This is the 66th percentile.

Head Circumference: Didn’t get this checked.

We went in for a weight check, so we didn’t actually get his percentiles.  An app that I use listed these percentiles, but I’m not sure if it’s right or not :)

I love my smiley guy!

Diaper Size: He’s still in size 3 and he is still wearing size 4 diapers overnight.  We decided to stick it out and leave him in size 3s during the day for now.

Clothing Size: He’s wearing 12 month and 12-18 month things.  He’s also in 18m pajamas, but PJs (esp the 2 piece kinds) have always seemed to run small on him.  He’s still in size 4 shoes :)

Nicknames: Curious Caleb, Baby, and Caleb Cub

Health: Caleb has been teething all month… I just found this week that his two upper lateral incisors are almost though (I looked up what they’re called!).  In fact, this weekend it feels like one of them is starting to poke through.  I’m eager for them to get through just so he can have a bit of a break.

He's the best!

Sleep: It’s been a rough time with sleep lately… Through most of July, Caleb’s sleep was messy and relied heavily on being rocked to sleep and being rocked back to sleep.  Seeing that he has two teeth that are both about to break through, I’m sure that’s been adding to his trouble sleeping.  However, I mainly think the problem is that he learned how to stand and jump in his crib and just couldn’t get himself to settle back down.  So, we’ve started working on that this week.
We’re doing some kind of version of cry it out (we’ve only been doing it for like half a week) – I don’t know if it follows whatever the defined rules of CIO are, but we’re kind of making our own system, learning as we go.  We’re trying to be consistent with his sleep routine, at both bed time and nap time.  We make sure his diaper is clean, he’s had teething tables (nap time) or ibuprofen (bed time), read him a story (Goodnight Moon) and pray for him.  Then, we leave him in his crib to go to sleep and, if he’s crying, we check on him every 10-15 minutes.  We lay him back down and pat his bum/rub his back… Then we just stand there for a bit so he knows he’s not alone as he goes back to sleep.  It’s not perfect and some nights are harder than others, but we’ve definitely made progress.  It took around 1.5 hours his first night, but we’ve had some naps/bed times take less than 15 minutes… We’ll see what I’m saying a month from now ;) (I wrote this all out more detailed so I have it to look back on!)

This is generally how I find Caleb in his crib... Standing and jumping!

Diet: Caleb is down to nursing about 4 times a day.  These days, he typically nurses once overnight, once in the early morning (but he sometimes goes back to sleep for a while after this, so it can feel like twice overnight), once in the early afternoon, and then at bed time.  Once in a while he adds in another overnight one, so it becomes 5/day… He is consistently eating 3 meals/day. He usually eats a whole banana and some Cheerios for breakfast, Greek yogurt and some applesauce or baby food mixed in for lunch, and then usually something we’re eating/leftovers for dinner.  I think soon he’s going to start adjusting his meal times and adding in a snack…. We’ll see!

He's had smiley eyes since he was a newborn <3

Loves: He loves cruising! He cruises along our furniture with no hesitation now!
He loves assisted walking! We’re borrowing a push toy from friends and he walks with that easily.  He’ll be walking in no time!
He loves giving hugs and kisses! He just started giving hugs this month, and I just cherish them.
He walks all over the place with this little toy!

Dislikes: He doesn’t like being the only one not eating.  This is still true… He’s a social eater ;)
He doesn’t like having things taken away – food, the remote, DVDs, the DVD player, my phone, etc…
He doesn’t like being left alone… If he’s playing on the floor and I walk out of the room, he crawls after me and if he’s left alone in his crib, he just screams :)

He's a wiggler!

Milestones: He is getting his third and fourth teeth!
He’s cruising along furniture and walking with a walker toy.  It’s crazy and awesome!  He’s really innovative and tends to take the more difficult route, which makes me laugh :)
His babbling has changed – saying new sounds, and talking more in general.

Baby Gear Love: We got the Trend Lab Fleece CribWrap Rail Covers.  They’re great!
Caleb loves the VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker! We’re borrowing it from a friend and I’m grateful for saving money, but still giving C the opportunity to play and learn :)

We’re also borrowing the Fisher-Price® Laugh N Learn Puppy & Friends Learning Table from the same friends.  Caleb loves this! He opens and closes the laptop part over and over :) He uses this table as a walker, pushing it all over the kitchen!

Random Thoughts: It’s amazing to me how much has changed for Caleb in the last 4-6 weeks.  He’s so so active and he’s such a little explorer.  I love it!  And I can’t imagine what else will have changed in the next few weeks – Walking? Talking?
I’m grateful that we’re finally seeing some progress with his sleep issues – we’ve had an exhausting few weeks… I’ve loved the times rocking him to sleep, but I have not loved having those moments 5-10 times in the night ;)
He stood up using the arm of the chair and then he heard Pete come in...
You can see in the 3rd picture how much he loves Pete!

Mama Update: I’m around 15 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight! I’m pretty consistently somewhere in the 13-15 pound range.  Last month I was in the 11-13 pound range, so I’m down another 2-4 pounds!  I’d like to lose a couple more pounds, but I would REALLY like to strengthen my muscles at this point…
I had a rough couple of weeks in July – I started having neck/shoulder/back problems (similar to what I was dealing with in 2012-2013).  Thankfully those have cleared up!  I’m getting back to the Y now and I will probably venture back into doing some weights for the first time in a few weeks (I had stopped because of this neck issue).
I’ve had to pack up SO MANY CLOTHES that are too big.  I’m thrilled for this progress, but having a really hard time losing all of my favorite clothes.  My pre-pregnancy weight/size was where I’ve pretty much always settled in terms of size as an adult.  So, the bulk of my wardrobe is that size and I never thought I’d be this much smaller, especially 10 months out from having a baby!
